Note: Age-standardised to the Australian population as at 30 June 2001. Asthma classified according to International Statistical Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision (ICD-9) code 493 and 10th Revision (ICD-10) codes J45 and J46. Deaths coded to ICD-9 (1979–1996) were converted to ICD-10 (1997 onwards) using conversion factors (see Appendix 1 for details).
